Appointment reliability and continuity in the patient–doctor relationship, as well as short diagnostic paths – that is the standard in the vascular outpatient clinic of Evangelisches Krankenhaus.
Modern diagnostic techniques permit examinations to be carried out quickly and in a targeted manner. In most cases, a clear diagnosis can be made directly on site. The ongoing technical and scientific development continues to increase the possibilities. The entire range of treatment options is presented in an individual consultation, and the optimal therapy, tailored to the symptoms, is selected in coordination with the patient.
If necessary, inpatient admission or surgical treatment may also be required, which will be planned promptly in consultation with the patient. Careful assessment and detailed patient information are the key to successful treatment. At Evangelisches Krankenhaus, sufficient time is devoted to each patient’s concerns.

Where it comes to diagnostics, the vascular outpatient clinic cooperates closely with Diagnosehaus 18. Patients also benefit from the interdisciplinary collaboration between vascular surgery and angiology, the IMCL laboratory and the in-house wound management. Capillary microscopy, offered by only a few healthcare providers, allows efficient diagnosis of the most minute vascular changes – painlessly and within a few minutes.
In case of advanced circulatory disorders of the legs and feet, treatment in the form of endovascular vasodilatation (PTA) with a stent implant can be carried out during a short inpatient stay if necessary. The so-called bypass surgery is used for the treatment of longer arterial occlusions.

FAQs
Vascular disorders are often caused by a combination of several risk factors: Diabetes, high blood pressure, disorders of the lipid metabolism, nicotine consumption, and obesity significantly increase the risk.
An elevated resting heart rate can indicate disorders of the heart, lungs or thyroid gland, and should be checked by a doctor.
Vascular dilation is largely painless, apart from a brief puncture, as the inner walls of the vessel do not have any pain receptors. It becomes necessary if blood circulation in the legs or the walking distance is considerably restricted (intermittent claudication). Even in the case of short occlusions or longer constrictions, it may be necessary to dilate the vessel, possibly with a stent, in order to avoid a more complex bypass operation.
