Our departments specialize in arthroscopic procedures on the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip and ankle. Thanks to our high level of specialization, we can guarantee our patients the highest quality.
One focus of our department is artificial joint replacement of the hip, knee, shoulder and ankle. We use the latest techniques, such as the AMIS approach (minimally invasive anterior approach to the hip joint). The advantage of this surgical technique is that no tendons or muscles are severed during the operation, which means faster recovery with less post-operative pain. As a result, optimal joint function is achieved, and patients are quickly mobile again.
Evangelisches Krankenhaus offers one of the most modern robotic-assisted knee prosthesis systems for the knee joint. This technology sets new standards in orthopedic surgery. The robotic assistant enables the prosthesis to be precisely positioned to the millimeter, significantly improving the functionality and longevity of the implant. Knee prostheses tailored to patients’ needs are also used. Both technologies achieve a high Forgotten Joint Score in patients, i.e. patients perceive their artificial knee as their own.
Other areas of specialization include hand, elbow, ankle, foot and spine surgery.
The entire surgical range includes:
Knee
Meniscus rupture, cruciate ligament injuries, patellar luxation, osteoarthritis, knee prosthesis, bone fractures, tendon tears, malalignment, bone marrow edema, Baker’s cyst, bursitis
Hip
Labral tear, impingement, cartilage damage, bone marrow edema, osteoarthritis, hip prosthesis, malalignment, hip dysplasia, hip dislocation, bone fractures, bursitis
Shoulder
Injury to the rotator cuff or long biceps tendon, shoulder dislocation, impingement, osteoarthritis, shoulder prosthesis, frozen shoulder, calcified shoulder, bursitis, collarbone fracture, bone fractures, acromioclavicular joint dislocation
Elbow
Nerve entrapment syndromes (ulnar nerve sulcus syndrome), epicondylitis, cartilage damage, osteoarthritis, instability, tendon ruptures
Wrist and hand
Artificial finger joints, thumb osteoarthritis, nerve entrapment syndromes (carpal tunnel syndrome), trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis), ganglion cysts, Dupuytren’s contracture
Spine
Herniated disc, spinal canal stenosis, scoliosis, instabilities, facet joint osteoarthritis, osteoporotic vertebral fracture treatment
Foot
Malalignment or instability of the ankle, ligament injury to the ankle or Achilles tendon, cartilage damage to the ankle, osteoarthritis of the foot, flat foot, hollow foot, heel spur, overuse syndrome, hallux valgus, hallux rigidus, toe deformities, avascular necrosis, metatarsalgia.
In our orthopedic department, we specialize in the comprehensive treatment of fractures. Precise imaging procedures (X-ray, CT and MRI) can be used to make a rapid diagnosis and give treatment recommendations. Both conservative therapy, for example by immobilizing the affected extremity in a cast or orthosis, physiotherapeutic mobilization, and surgical treatment can be initiated and carried out. Individual aftercare plans to restore full functionality are drawn up together with our patients.
In addition to surgical procedures, our orthopedic traumatology departments also offer comprehensive conservative treatment of fractures. Here, musculoskeletal complaints are treated without surgery. The goal is to alleviate or eliminate orthopedic conditions and the associated pain and functional disorders without the need for surgery. Our range of therapies follows the interdisciplinary approach of Evangelisches Krankenhaus. Various specialties such as diagnostics, physical therapy, neurology, rheumatology and anesthesiology cooperate to define the optimal pain therapy for the patient.
