Rheumatology: Rheumatism covers a variety of disorders of the musculoskeletal system (muscles, bones, joints) and the immune system. Typical complaints are joint and muscle pain, stiff knees, back pain and swollen and inflamed joints.
- Osteology/osteoporosis
Osteoporosis (bone loss) is the most common bone condition in old age. 42% of women over 65 are affected; the number is also increasing among men. A total of around 700,000 Austrians suffer from osteoporosis.
- Autoimmune diseases
Autoimmune diseases are increasing rapidly and can affect almost every organ system. Conditions such as dermal allergies, autoimmune diseases of the connective tissue or joints such as systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren’s syndrome or chronic polyarthritis are just a few examples.
Our department diagnoses and treats conditions of the stomach, intestines, liver and pancreas. State-of-the-art endoscopy, laboratory diagnostics and imaging diagnostics are used for rapid and comprehensive diagnosis and targeted therapies.
Here, patients with arterial and venous disorders are diagnosed and treated. The range of services includes state-of-the-art examination and treatment methods, from magnetic resonance angiography to vascular dilatation with stent implantation to drug-eluting balloons.
- Cardiology
Patients are examined holistically in order to accurately identify and specifically treat cardiovascular conditions. Precise laboratory diagnostics, individualized therapies and high-quality nuclear-medicine procedures incl. myocardial scans complete the offer.
Hematology deals with disorders of the hematopoietic system and the lymph glands – oncology diagnoses and treats malignant conditions that often arise from the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, the bronchial system or breast tissue. An interdisciplinary committee develops treatment proposals that take into account not only the condition itself, but concomitant illnesses and personal circumstances as well.
Occupational and social medicine is dedicated to the effects of work and the environment on health. The aim is to positively influence the effects of these influences and sustainably improve quality of life.
